The International Workshop on Language Acquisition and Reading Disabilities in Early Childhood

This short and intensive workshop, sponsored by MASHAV, the Hebrew acronym for Israel's Center for International Cooperation intended to give the participants a working knowledge of the causes of language and reading disabilities and guide them in developing a related program suitable to their line of work in their respective countries.

Participants reside at the Golda Meir Mount Carmel International Training Center (MCTC) in POB 6111, Haifa 31060, Israel. Classroom study and observation visits are done on weekdays while Saturdays are often devoted to  sightseeing trips to historical or religious places.
 
Subjects were presented in lectures and explored in small group discussions. Professional observation visits to kindergartens, schools, various other educational institutions and social service centers were an integral part of the workshop. Visits to educational institution that offer programs relevant to the participants' personal professional interests were also prioritized.
