For You And Me

I think that I shall never be

In a class that is as lovely

Mabuhay! Philippines Shirley,

Leony, Portia and Besy

Czia! Judit, Eszter, Agi,

And Erzshebet from Hungary

Dzien dobry! Polands Aneta,

Ella, Hania, and Eva

Jambo! Millie and Ann from Kenya

Dancing Christy from Nigeria

And Sri Lankas Jayasinghe

Bok! Renata from Croatia

Did I forget anybody?

Now, let me think, slowly, slowly

I have poor short term memory

And a naming problem maybe

A learning disability?

Mediation, please, quickly, quickly!

Oh! Now I remember Ana

Costa Ricas señorita

And dear Agnes from Cameroon

Knocking on the door of the room

And calling out Senait! Senait!

In the middle of the night

Wheres the one from Erithrea?

Mmm Is she missing in Haifa?

Or with Helen from Uganda?

Or maybe with Joke from Thailand

Or left behind in an ulpan

With beloved Janette Hirschmann

I hope I didnt miss anyone

Oh! Xin chao! Kien from Vietnam

Do forgive me or else I run

Dont hit me with bamboo poles, please

For I still have to give everyone

A farewell wish and a goodbye kiss.

To you all I say sincerely,

May the road rise up to meet you,

May the wind be always be at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

And the rains fall soft upon your fields,

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His

hand. (An Irish Blessing)
